New Academic Year Structure
Queen’s is seeking to promote a more innovative learning and assessment environment for students. As part of this, we plan to streamline the amount of assessment which students are currently required to undertake, including the requirement for examinations to be the predominant method of end-of-module assessment. The major changes include the removal of the examination period at the end of Semester 1, the introduction of a progressive continuous assessment model across both semesters and the introduction of a series of innovative Development Weeks.
In the new academic year structure, many students will experience changes in how and when learning outcomes are assessed. In so doing, we expect that the learning experience and employability of our students will be enhanced.
Further information will be presented by the Director of Education throughout the year and student consultation has already taken place and will continue to take place via SSCC and Student Councils. The link below also contains valuable information.
